All About the Ring
One of the highlights of being engaged is getting to show off my bling. Brides LOVE hearing squeals of "let me see your ring!!" and I am no exception. My ring is so much more to me than a shiny bauble, however. What makes my ring the most beautiful I've ever seen is the fact that Greg picked it out without me, meaning he picked a ring that he thought I would love and that would fit my personality. That makes it all the more meaningful to me and I can't imagine ever parting with it. But it helps that its gorgeous.
My ring is rose gold, which gives it a beautiful vintage look. It has a center round cut diamond with lots of little accent diamonds surrounding it and on the band. I don't know much terminology about rings (Greg knows more from his ring hunting), but my two favorite things about the ring is the metal accents around the setting and the scrolly (very technical) design when you look at the profile. The matching wedding band (which I can't wait to be able to wear, it's SO sparkly) has the same scroll design on the profile and is adorned with accent diamonds.
So, as I said, Greg picked it out based off of what he knows about my taste and he did a wonderful job. Last January (2016), he and my best friend Leah (now Maid of Honor) went looking around various ring stores. They found one that I might have liked but they weren't 100% sold. Unfortunately, sales associates at this particular store were paid on commission so they had the whole car-shark vibe going on. Leah is wonderful with confrontation and had to speak sternly a few times. They eventually told Greg some lie about how if he walked out, the price would rise or it would be sold quickly or some other bull, so he put a deposit on the ring but kept looking. The next place he went was Shane Co. where he was shown my ring and he knew at first sight that this was the one for me. It took he and his parents arguing with the other ring store to get his deposit back, but eventually that day he bought my ring and almost 6 months after that he proposed. The rest, as they say, is history. Since then, I have gotten my ring cleaned twice at Shane Company and I have received nothing but wonderful customer service. We fully intend on purchasing our wedding bands and any other jewelry needs from them in the future.
So that's the very condensed version of how my ring was purchased. Greg did such a great job picking it out and I can not wait for it to have its mate on October 20th of next year :)

Meet the Maids
Greg and I are officially at the halfway mark of our engagment and I have just now finished up asking my bridesmaids. This long engagement has been rough, but we know its the responsible thing to do and I am very glad to have the extra time for planning. That being said, I didn't want to ask bridesmaids two years in advance so I decided to wait until about a year out. So now that I've popped the question, I can officially introduce the bridesmaids!
Leah Beth Meet my Maid of Honor! Leah has been my best friend since high school and is such a spiritual giant. She's a huge blessing in my life and I could not be more excited to have someone so dependable, talented, and beautiful by my side.
Megan Megan is my big in my sorority, Phi Mu (still using present tense even though she has already gone alum because its for life). We hit it off the very first time we met. We have so much fun together and there is never a moment without laughs, which I'm sure I will need closer to the wedding!
Lydia I met Lydia the very first day of college. She sat behind me in our first engineering course and working on homework together quickly budded into a wonderful friendship. She's one of the most dedicated and dependable people and I know she'll be an awesome element on our special day.
Bailey Bailey and I met each other on a random roommate generator before college began. We decided to room together through 2 different dorms and an apartment, and here we are rooming together during our last year of college. Bailey is always dancing so I know that she will bring the fun.
Bri I consider Bri to be my sister. She is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people I've ever met. She's always down for a sleep over and desserts and I know that she will be a sweet relief on a stressful day to me.
I'm so excited to have these ladies by my side on my big day and even more blessed for them to be a part of my life for forever. So much fun to look forward to!
